Packing for Unify

Return to info page

Excited to rock out to your favourite band? Before you get ready for a weekend at UNIFY, make sure you’re prepared to endure the crowds, brave endless hours on your feet, and pack the essentials to stay comfortable. After all, you’re there for the killer tunes and, as long as you go in knowing what to expect, you’re sure to have an awesome time. Here are our top 10 tips to help you pack for the best weekend of the year.

Ticket & ID

It seems obvious but… we have to say it. UNIFY is an 18+ event. It will be all for nothing if you don’t pack these items first.  This is not the weekend to forget your wallet or purse.

Choose a suitable bag

Before heading out to hand bang with the best of them, pack accordingly. You’re not heading to a five-star hotel and there is no place to store your valuables. However you arrive, you’ll have to carry your stuff a distance to where you camp.  You won’t want to lug a large heavy suitcase or sling 5 smaller bags over your shoulder.  Pack your clothes and larger items in a daypack that you can sling over your shoulder or dag on wheels.

Waterproof camping gear

Rain or Shine: Be prepared for the elements. Your campsite it is your home for the weekend so make sure you are all set with a tent, sleeping bag, pillow, and roll mat. Avoid buying cheap disposable items that may not stand up in the weather. Share, rent or borrow camping items for the festival and beyond.

Consult with friends

Find out who’s bringing what and make a plan. Don’t double up or bring too many things that you can’t take them home with you. Share resources such as esky’s, tents, tables, etc.

Remove unnecessary packaging

Only take what you need to the festival. Create space and toss/recycle any packaging that you’ll get rid of. We encourage you to bring food, drinks, and the essentials but leave its packaging at home.

Sturdy water bottle

You’ll need water and carrying about a refillable bottle is the best way to stay hydrated as there are dozens of taps on site. Purchase your official UNIFY drink bottle here, these will also be available at the event. Don’t forget your reusable cup or mug for your morning cuppa.

Clothes for the elements

Yes, we are in the middle of the beautiful Australian summer but Victorian weather is unpredictable. Make sure you’ve packed a warm jumper or two. A rain jacket and thick socks are also useful to keep your gumboots from rubbing when it starts tipping down. On the other hand, bring shorts and a hat for those bright and sunny days. You’ll thank us later.

Toiletries & meds

Deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, sunscreen, etc. These items will keep you feeling fresh throughout the weekend. Luckily, if you do forget any of the essentials you can visit the corner store to purchase anything you’ve forgotten.

Torch

Probably best to get a head torch. Go hands-free while roaming around your tent or making your way to the silent disco! There will be lights in the campsite, but we recommend you light your own path.
