Unless you wish to book a pre-pitched camping package the yes, UNIFY Gathering is a BYO camping event. We recommend packing a tent, mat, pillow, sleeping bag etc. Volunteers have access to the general camping area of the site as well as a separate crew camping area.
This year, we will have a dedicated camping area for volunteers. You don’t have to camp here, but if you prefer too – you can!
Once you have been confirmed and you’ve submitted your Volunteer Agreement you are locked in as a UNIFY Volunteer. You will receive a festival ticket via email, specific to volunteering. When you arrive to the festival let the staff know you are volunteering and proceed to the entry gates. Look out for the specific VOLUNTEER ENTRY LANE where you will get signed in and accredited with your festival wrist band.
Applications will stay open until all positions have been filled.
Confirmations will get sent out at the beginning of October.
Roster release take place mid-December, ongoing until all positions have been filled.
All position descriptions and arrival procedures will be made available at this time.
We’ve done our best to consider your availability submitted at the time of application. Your allocated shifts are based on the needs of the event. If your availability has changed, please email Volunteer Support at volunteers [at] unifygathering.com
There are limited opportunities to volunteer before and after the festival. In the case you are assigned shifts outside of the festival’s official opening and closing you will be issued early entry instructions. Otherwise, you will be required to arrive and depart the festival within its opening and closing times.
You will provide with appropriate PPE, which is to be worn throughout and returned at the end of your shift. Closed-toe shoes are mandatory. Be practical and sensible when packing for the festival. Look ahead at the forecast, bring warm clothing, layering items, water-proof items, hat & sunnies, a torch, snacks, water bottle etc.
All volunteers will be provided their t-shirt upon the start of their initial shift.
We love volunteers that are accountable, communicative, fun and easy-going and who love working as a team! Remember to ensure you pack appropriate attire for all weather conditions, a sun-smart hat, water bottle, torch and closed toe shoes. You’re going to have a great time if you think ahead to prepare yourself for your shifts. Costumes encouraged. Positive mental attitude a must!
The Volunteer Agreement outlines the engagement and expectation on you, as a confirmed participant. We utilize a payment gateway that securely stores your details which are held until successful completion of your allocated shifts. A nominal, non-refundable fee is processed so that we have your details and in the unlikely event you do not complete your shifts, or break the terms & conditions of the event, or the Agreement, you will be charged the full price of an event ticket plus a $100 administrative fee.

“After attending in 2015 as patrons, we decided to give volunteering a shot, and have volunteered every year since! Each and every person at UNIFY shares the same passion for heavy music creating a great family vibe amongst complete strangers. Volunteering gives you a whole new perspective of the inner workings of a festival and makes you feel a part of what makes UNIFY the best festival year after year.”
“I have been volunteering with UNIFY since 2016 and love the atmosphere that comes with it. My favourite thing, about volunteering, is the people you meet. All from different states, countries, and backgrounds. Through volunteering, I got offered a paid opportunity to be part of the volunteer support team. I recommend everyone give Unify a shot, if not for the experience, then for the community it creates. See you all in the pit at Unify 2019!”
‘Since UNIFY’s conception we have eagerly awaited the yearly pilgrimage from Queensland to what has become Australia’s go to metal festival.
We were so overwhelmed by the success of the first UNIFY we volunteered to be more involved in creating the safe and exciting community. Assisting UNIFY grow is super satisfying.
Throughout the years, we’ve recruited friends to join the party you cannot find anywhere else! UNIFY really is something special. UNIFY is like Disneyland for Metal heads!’
UNIFY: A heavy music gathering is improving its accessibility processes to service patrons with a disability who attend the event.
If you would like to be registered as a person who requires consideration on the basis of your disability you will be able to complete the Accessibility Form once you have purchased your ticket to the festival.
